David Soldner, Manheim Township, tied a state record this week when he booted 2 field goals in the Black Knight's 26-7 win over Wilson (West Lawn). The two field goals gives him 13 on the year, tying the mark held by Greg Davis, Germantown Academy in 1997.

 


 

Kane defeated Coudersport, 39-7, on Friday night to complete an undefeated regular season.  It was Kane's first undefeated in 45 years.


Ligonier Valley is proud to report several milestones accomplished during week 9.

  1. 9-0 , first undefeated season since 1983 and first conference championship since 1984.
  2. Brandon Boyd broke the school career interception record with his 2 interceptions, giving him 16 career ints.  Breaking Chris Gessner’s record.
  3. Matt Beckman broke the season kick scoring record with 40 points on the season.
  4. Jon Cotchen and Brandon Boyd both went over the 1,000 yard mark for the season.  It is the first time in school history that two backs have eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark during the same season.

Danville High School had several record-setters in their 39-37 win over Lewisburg during week 9 of the season:

1. Andrew Shoop threw for 378 yards, breaking Bill Coombe’s mark of 325 set in 1988

2. Shoop now has 2,292 yards passing this season, breaking Coombe’s mark of 2,014 set in 1988

3. Shoop hit 30-of-45 passes for 6 TDs. 30 Completions and 6 TDs are single-game records

4. His 6 TD passes give him 24 this year, breaking Coombe’s record of 19 set in 1988

5. Michael Smith caught 4 TD passes, which ties his own school record set earlier this year (tied with two other players)

6. Smith now has 14 TD catches this season, breaking Straughn Lumpkin (former all-state WR, Big 33 MVP) mark of 12.


Gettysburg quarterback Evan Lewis exceeded the 5,000 yard passing mark for his career in the Warriors win over previously unbeaten Red Land (40-7).  He currently stands 47th all time in Pennsylvania history.  Lewis' career stats at present:
