BLOOMSBURG... The win over Edinboro was the first-ever for the Huskies at Edinboro (now 1-3…The win was also the second straight come-from-behind win for the Huskies. A week ago against California, the Huskies also scored 21 fourth quarter points to rally for the win... The touchdown reception by Kyle Ream was the first of his career....By quarters, the Huskies have scored 13 points combined in the quarters one, two and three this season and 42 in the fourth period…Tailback Jamar Brittingham moved into fourth place on the PSAC All-time career rushing TD list with 52 and is now fourth in career points with 324. Brittingham needs 152 yards to move into second place all-time on the school’s career rushing list…Bloomsburg will face Clarion for the first time since the 1996 NCAA playoffs, a game won by the Golden Eagles. Overall, Clarion leads the series between the teams, 4-2-1.  

CALIFORNIA... California made it 12 in a row against Cheyney with a 43-8 win Saturday ... Cal scored on its first eight possessions ... With three touchdowns on Saturday, RB Brandon Lombardy equaled his total for the 2005 campaign (7) ... QB Joe Ruggiero now has 3,538 career passing yards and eight games (out of 16) with at least two touchdown passes... Sr. WR Marc Huddleston has a TD reception in all three games this season ... Fr. PK Tyler Lorenz drilled three FGs vs. Cheyney -- one more than the Vulcans hit in the 2005 season ... Jr. LB Josh Zunic upped his career tackle total to 102, with six hits and recovered a fumble ... John Luckhardt, 26-19 in four-plus seasons, moved into a tie with former Cal head coach and long-time Penn State assistant coach Earle Bruce (26-6 from 1946-49) for sixth place on the Vulcans' wins list.

CHEYNEY... Despite losing 43-8 this past week at California, Cheyney did outscore Cal in the second half 8-3.  Ray Feamster caught his second touchdown pass of the season.  Lamar Hyson caught six passes for 115 yards both personal bests.  The Wolves gave up a season high 483 yards in offense.  The Cheyney rushing games continues to have difficulty getting on track.  The Wolves gained 26 yards on the ground this past week.  The loss at Cal was the 12th consecutive time that the Wolves fell to the Vulcans on the grid iron.  The Wolves have lost 11 in a row backing back to last season. 


CLARION... Clarion’s offense kept the game close in the first half but couldn’t match West Chester in the second half…Matt Foradora and Pierre Odom (6-246, 1 TD) caught first half touchdown passes to cut WC’s lead to 27-21, but the Rams scored 22-second half points to win 49-21… Odom’s 246 yards were the second best in Clarion history … Terry McFetridge had 251 receiving yards against Kutztown in 1982 for the best effort… Freshman qb Mark Rupert passed for 302 yards … His first 300 yard game … Linebackers Zach Gourley (14 tackles) and Matt Morris (11 hits) led the defense… Dwaon Woodard posted the team’s first interception of the year … It was Woodard’s 7th career pickoff… Clarion’s 1966 PSAC Championship team was honored at halftime… That team, under Al Jacks, went 10-0 and defeated West Chester in the state title game 28-26… Clarion travels to Bloomsburg next Saturday.


EAST STROUDSBURG...  QB Jimmy Terwilliger added another record to his impressive resume in the Warriors’ loss to IUP. Terwilliger hit Evan Prall for a 48-yard completion in the first quarter to pass Joey Conrad of Glenville State as the NCAA Division II career passing yards leader … Terwilliger finished the game with 256 yards passing and now has 12,066 for his career, in just 40 games … Prall caught four passes for 126 yards in the loss and scored the first rushing touchdown of his career, on an option play. He has six touchdowns in the last two games … P Nick Krut kicked four times for 175 yards, a 43.8 yards per kick average … Nick Artinger made his first career interception and had a 50-yard return … ESU will host California Saturday at 1:05 p.m. It is the first time the two teams have played since 1993. ESU leads the series 2-0-1.


EDINBORO... Edinboro saw its six-game winning streak dating back to 2005 end with 28-10 loss to 12th-ranked Bloomsburg… The Huskies also snapped Edinboro’s 10-game home winning streak...The Scots were held to 42 yards rushing, the lowest total since 1999, while Bloomsburg became the first team to rush for more than 100 yards vs. Edinboro in last seven games.  The Huskies finished with 119 yards, the most allowed since the final game of 2004 ... Ryan Valasek caught 6 passes for 83 yards, moving into ninth place in career receptions (83) ... Trevor Harris threw for a career-high 211 yards, and completed 23 passes, tied for the fourth-highest total in school history ... junior CB Taurean Valentine intercepted his first career pass, one of three interceptions on the day for Edinboro ... Edinboro plays Cheyney next week for the first time since 1997.     

 IUP... IUP moved to 2-0 win a 35-20 win over East Stroudsburg in Lou Tepper’s home debut at Miller Stadium… Chris Morgan broke his own school record with 286 rushing yards and scored on runs of 62, 26 and 51 yards… Morgan moved into third place in career rushing yards (2,925) and attempts (523) and seventh in touchdowns (25)… IUP rushed for 433 yards against the Warriors, the second highest single game total in school history, and has 670 on the ground in two games this season, including 426 by Morgan… The IUP defense held the powerful East Stroudsburg offense to 95 yards and no points in the second half, sacked Jimmy Terwilliger five times and ended his Division II record streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass at 39… The game was the first against East Stroudsburg since 1997 and IUP’s first win in the series since 1992.

KUTZTOWN... Kutztown became the last PSAC East team to lose a game, falling to Shippensburg, 42-27…KU’s Kyle Spotts established career highs with 338 yards passing and four touchdowns…WR Elfren Quiles had 149 receiving yards, becoming the first KU player with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games since Trevor Smith in 2003 (vs. Shippensburg and Clarion)…KU has scored 27 points in both of its games this season…KU has had an advantage in time of possession in both games of 2006, after leading in time of possession just twice in 2005…KU plays Slippery Rock this week for the first time since 1999.


LOCK HAVEN... Lock Haven has winning records against all of the D-II non-division opponents this season, including 40-20-4 against this week’s opponent, Mansfield University … LHU has won the last six contests on the road for this series ... LHU had two 100-yard rushers and 446 team rushing yards in last year’s 24-12 Homecoming win over Mansfield ... LHU QB Ilio DiPaolo posted the team’s first 100-yard passing game with a 21-of-32 effort for 164 yards against Millersville Saturday ... Senior linebacker Jonathan Nalewak has 232 career tackles, 44 out of 10th place in LHU history ... Reserve quarterback Jason Eby recorded his first career tackle in a punt coverage role against Millersville.

MANSFIELD... The Mountaineers fell to 0-2 on the season with a 46-0 loss at Slippery Rock ... it marks the first time since 1949 Mansfield has been shutout the first two games of the season ... the Mountaineers have not scored in the last 11 quarters including the last three of the final game last year ... Mansfield managed to get inside the Slippery Rock 25-yard line four times but threw two interceptions, had a field goal blocked and lost possession on downs at the 1-yard line. 


MILLERSVILLE... The Marauders got into the win column with a 35-0 triumph over Lock Haven... QB Dan Csencsitz hit on 18 of 25 passes for 215 yards and two scores... Eight different receivers caught passes... Freshman Brad Lantz registered the first 100-yard rushing game of his career and the first of the season for Millersville with 118 yards on 23 carries... After totaling two sacks in the first two games, Millersville broke through with five against Lock Haven... Including 2.5 by LB Eric Marshall.

 

SHIPPENSBURG...  Shippensburg scored the game’s first 21 points en route to a 42-27 victory over Kutztown on Saturday. The victory was the second-straight for the Red Raiders who led 42-7 midway through the third quarter ... For the second-straight week, freshman Chris Infante led the way (20 rush, 97 yds, TD)… Last week at Mansfield, he became the first freshman since Matt Phillips in 2001 to rush for over 100 yards when he had 118 and two touchdowns ... Shippensburg scored touchdowns on its first five possessions, including Howard Chavous’ game-opening 96-yard kickoff return - the third-longest kickoff return in school history ... Senior Tony Gomez threw two touchdown passes, which came on just three completions… Junior Josh Emberg had a career-high seven tackles, including two sacks ... Shippensburg travels to West Chester next week… The game will be broadcast live on raiders.ship.edu as well as NCAAsports.com/DII by College Sports Television.

SLIPPERY ROCK... Junior QB Nate Crookshank passed for a career-high 336 yards  - the highest recorded by a Rock QB since John Linhart threw for a school-record 502 yards on Nov. 7, 1992 vs. California (Pa.) - and two TDs Saturday to lead The Rock to a 46-0 win over Mansfield. He now holds the following rankings in Slippery Rock history: 5th pass completions (288), 6th-  attempts (533) and yardage (3842), T-7th TDs (26)… Crookshank connected with junior WR Paul Favers for a school-record 95-yard TD in the third quarter Saturday. Favers (4-127) tied a career high yardage total (Bloomsburg 2005)… Senior WR Luke Wetzel followed last week’s career-high 138 yard performance with 120 yards this week… The Rock offense amassed 610 yards in total offense while the defense recorded four interceptions (two by Anthony Walls) en route to its first shutout since 2002 (Fairmont State).


WEST CHESTER... Osagie Osunde led WCU to a 49-21 victory over Clarion despite playing just one half of football...he produced 158 all-purpose yards and rushed 14 times for 130 yards and one score...he also caught a 15-yard TD pass...he moved into 8th all-time at WCU on the career rushing charts...he was injured and missed the entire second half...the Golden Rams lost Osunde, Brent Steinmetz and Brandan Hargrose out of the backfield at the start of the second half...Dean Millard rushed for 89 yards and two scores in the second half, including a career-high 65-yard score...WCU outscored Clarion 43-7 after trailing 14-6 to start the game...this was the ninth straight meeting between the two clubs...Michael Washington caught two more TDs vs. Clarion, giving him seven scores in two games...WCU will face Shippensburg on Saturday night at home...the game will be on broadband around the world.
